I can’t believe I had the opportunity to stay at one of my DREAM hotels – 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay in Kauai, Hawaii. When we were planning our honeymoon, I told Robb we HAVE to go here and he delivered. I was nervous about the weather in October but it was honestly perfection.
I have never been to Kauai so didn’t know what to expect, it’s now my favorite Hawaiian Island and I have been to Maui, Oahu, and Kona. But 1 Hotel was also a key factor. Here’s the deets on why you need to visit this magical place:
WHY I LOVED the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay:
Located on the North side of Kauai in Princeville, 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay is worth the hour drive from the airport. The second you enter this hotel, you FEEL the Hawaiian energy; blissful, soothing, clean and calm all wrapped in one. You’re immediately welcomed at the reception desk with an incredible shot of rum accompanied by a delicious coconut water elixir. It was delicious and exactly what we needed after our long flight and drive.
We were then given a brief tour of the property. They pointed out the restaurants, beach area, fitness center and laid out the entire hotel, which is extremely helpful when you first arrive anywhere. When we got to our room, we were upgraded to an ocean front suite, with a bottle of rose waiting for us and mini desserts. The service was truly incredible the second we got there. No detail was not taken into consideration our entire stay. Plus, everyone is friendly, helpful and kind. The concierge is ready to help you book any excursion and they remember you throughout the week, saying Hi when you walk around and always checking in to make sure you’re enjoying your stay. We love incredible service!!
Our room was simply stunning/amazing. The bed was comfortable, we had plenty of room, the TV included screen sharing and the shower was heavenly. Aside from the stunning view of Hanalei Bay, my favorite feature was the water filter. They literally had a water filter so you could fill up your water bottle any time. WE LOVE HYDRATION. OBSESSED.
My other favorite feature of the hotel was the fitness center. It’s INSANE and features ANY equipment you could possibly need and it’s HUGE. Plus, they offer a wide array of fitness classes daily, including pilates. These are all included in your stay. I workout daily on vacation so this was truly a dream for me!! They even had gym equipment on the beach for a ‘beach workout’. Plus, they offer health treatments too, including IVs and Peptide treatments (we did not do this lol but an option if you needed anything wild wellness/health related).
Aside from offering fitness classes, they also offer daily activities too. These activities varied from a mai tai-making class (so fun) to Ukulele lessons to even kid-friendly activities. It’s so cute and fun. All of these are also included in your stay (unless stated otherwise).
Now resort food can be hit or miss but WOW this hotel did NOT miss. There’s technically 4 restaurant options. Here’s my review of them all:
Neighbors: This is a cute coffee/juice shop on property. We had breakfast here a couple of times. I liked the smoothies and juices but preferred going to Kauai Juice Co off property but everything was super delicious and healthy! We loved getting complimentary coffee here in the AM and taking in the views.
The Sandbox: This restaurant is by the pool and offered classic, casual eats. The fish tacos were delicious and you can’t beat the beach views! A great spot for poolside bites. Robb loved the shaved ice!
1 Kitchen: The 1 Kitchen is the standard restaurant in the middle of the resort. They offer an incredible breakfast buffet (SO GOOD) and a really yummy dinner too. We ate here 3 or 4 times whether it was breakfast or dinner. If you go here for dinner, get the MILK BREAD. It was divine. Also, the Kanapachi was incredible. We loved every thing we ate here. It’s all locally sourced and delicious. I have nothing negative to say other than they were short staff so it was hard to just “walk-in” even though many tables were open.
Welina Terrace: This is where we had our favorite meal on the island. Welina Terrance offers sweeping views of Hanalei Bay, with the best sunset views. You must make a reservation or hover at the bar. We had some of the best sushi we’ve ever had here. We let our waiter pick what we ate, but some of the stand outs were the Truffle Salmon, the edamame (random, I know) Waygu Nigiri, and the White Tiger Roll. We left very full and happy and even went back another night for an appetizer at the bar. It was SO yummy but def pricey.
This hotel was worth every penny is truly a 5/5. The details, staff, amenities, and the food made our stay impeccable and it was truly the perfect honeymoon. We will be back soon!!!
