Once we were working on our remodel, I was anxiously waiting to get all the new furniture and décor- the best part! I have never really moved and started from scratch furniture wise. After collecting items over the years, it just felt right to get all new stuff to bring into our new home. I spent many hours on Pinterest, Instagram, watching HGTV and looking at types of home décor inspiration. I loved so many different types of ‘vibes’ and found it so hard to find places to buy what I was looking for, without breaking the bank. BUT after over 7 months of remodeling, I finally found (almost) all of our furniture and accessories! I wish I had found a post on someone’s favorite places to buy furniture/décor for a modern home with an earthy, zen twist so I am sharing my current favorite home stores I have been LOVING for my furniture and décor, for every budget: .
West Elm
If there is one store I’d want my home to mirror after, it might be West Elm with a side of Restoration Hardware. But, West Elm is MUCH more affordable. West Elm has all things home– furniture, décor, lights, vanities, etc.. They blend mid century, coastal and modern elements in their designs, often mixing textures and textiles and I always love their neutrals with pops of color. They just have a great variety. I actually knew I wanted items from West Elm but I ended up being surprised at how affordable their furniture was given the quality compared to other retailers. I’ve done Wayfair and Living Spaces for furniture in the past and it was great for an immediate solution. West Elm is higher quality in my opinion and is built to last. They’re also one of the most sustainable home furnishing retailers and focus on fair trade and local artists for some of their designs, which I love. I ended up buying a majority of our big furniture here (couch, chairs, dining table) and we love it all. Some of it was backordered due to COVID but we somehow got it all in time for our move. They have great financing options as well with their credit card if that’s a route for you when making these big purchases. Here a few of my favorites I bought:
Carlo Mid-Century Chair
Mobile Chandelier
Harmony Sofa
Poly and Bark
Thanks to my sister in law, I discovered Poly and Bark and I am OBSESSED! Super budget friendly, quick shipping and beautiful leather and mid-century modern designs, Poly and Bark is a dream. They have a limited selection of products compared to West Elm but have a great variety of living room, bedroom and workspace designs and furniture options. They also offer free shipping, a 30 day try at home period and let you order swatches of fabric for free. Their website is seamless and easy to use and all of the furniture we got from here was simple to set up and durable (especially their leather!).I got my kitchen chairs and ottoman from here and they were a fraction of the price compared to some West Elm options. I am so glad we discovered Poly and Bark and also found out they have an outlet store in Moorpark, CA that we will be checking out soon! Here is what I bought/plan to add:
Gio Ottoman
Circa Dining Chair
Kali Pouf
Target
Who doesn’t love Target?! Honestly, this past year, this department store giant has upped their home décor and furniture game. With brands and collaborations with Magnolia and Studio McGee, their high quality collections have me spending more and more every time I make a Target run. From basic furniture like end tables and ottomans to cute mugs and fake plants, they really have a great variety of options for all types of styles. They also have cute rugs too! I have found myself browsing online and I follow the @targetdoesitagain Instagram account too to find cute new released items. Here is what I am eyeing to pick up my next target run/is already in my online cart:

Faux Eucalyptus Tree
Outdoor/Indoor Rug
Round Bamboo Bowl
Shaker Accent Table
While these are my FAV stores at the moment, I found a lot of inspiration online from Instagram accounts I just have to share. While sometimes I know interior designers post items a bit pricier, all of these gals IG feeds inspired me. They all helped me discover the type of elements, colors, textures, and overall energy I wanted to have in our place (they also have their own online stores and/or offer interior services!). Here a few designers worth a follow for GREAT home inspiration (one is local to OC!)
Lindye Galloway – based in Newport Beach!
Amber Interiors
Eye for Pretty
I can’t wait to share photos of the place when it’s complete- hopefully SOON!
